The network core for Partnership III offers internal networking for offices and labs and a high-speed network for the building’s data center. The design encompasses redundant 10 gigabit connectivity to the university’s border routers for access to Internet 1 and 2 as well as Florida Lamda Rail and includes services such as IP routing, intrusion detection and prevention, firewalls, and wireless service management.
The Department of Information Systems Technology also participates in the Federal State University Network (FEDSUN), supporting research and development efforts for its clients who require hosting on this network.
The data center offers over 2,000 square feet of raised floor computing space with fully redundant multiple 10 gigabit uplinks and 10 gigabit interconnects for both regular Ethernet and iSCSI and FCoE for integrated SAN traffic. There is 140 tons of air conditioning, a centralized UPS system for power fail over to a 600kVA back-up generator, and a gaseous fire suppressant to protect the server equipment in the unfortunate case of a fire. This state of the art data center will provide for expansion of the university’s research for many years to come.
